EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES IN RURAL AFRICA IS ESSENTIAL TO THE PRESERVATION OF ELEPHANTS AND RHINOS
Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP) protects Southern Africa’s wild elephants and rhinos by helping to alleviate poverty in rural communities adjacent to threatened elephant and rhino populations. We also implement tactical interventions to combat the poaching problem, such as sustainable alternatives as a source of community income, elephant relocations and drought relief programs.
ERP brings over 30 years of experience in community relations, poverty alleviation, and impact investment in infrastructure, to achieve sustainable, non-lethal wildlife conservation. ERP's parent company, Group Elephant donates 1% of its own revenue to cover all of ERP's operational expenses, and to fund projects.

ERP is run with business discipline, and we pursue a broad range of potential solutions, working directly with communities as well as with partners who are best positioned to help.

The people executing the poaching to sell horns and tusks are poor people with few other choices to survive, and if we can make it in their best interests economically to protect elephants and rhinos, they will do that more effectively than anybody else can.”
